What is Eyelid Surgery?
Eyelid surgery at Glendale’s SoCal Vision Center is an often cosmetic, though sometimes necessary, medical procedure where excess eyelid skin is removed, and the remaining skin is tightened. Patients who undergo droopy lid or cosmetic eye surgery at Glendale’s SoCal Vision Center typically report a more alert and youthful appearance along with improved vision.
Do I Need the Surgery?
Many patients who undergo this surgery do not medically require the procedure. Instead, it is often an elective surgery to improve the appearance of the skin surrounding the eyes.
With age, eyelids can begin to droop, bag, or sag. Eyebrows can also begin to droop with age. This stretches the eyelid skin and weakens nearby muscles. Patients seeking cosmetic eye surgery often complain of their appearances, saying their face looks more tired or older because of their drooping eyelids.
But sometimes, the surgery is done out of necessity. In severe cases, droopy lids can restrict vision or make it difficult to wear glasses or contact lenses. If you’re either struggling with your vision due to drooping eyelids or feel self-conscious about your eyelids’ appearance, you may benefit from eyelid surgery at Glendale’s SoCal Vision Center.
How Long Does It Take To Recover From Eyelid Surgery?
Mild discomfort is typical after this surgery. Cold packs and warm compresses are typically administered for several days following a procedure, based on the surgeon’s instructions. The eye area will mostly appear bruised, swollen, and red for several days.
Any sutures should be fully dissolved within a week (or removed after a week if non-dissolving) and the swelling should completely subside after several weeks.
