Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a potentially severe disease of the optic nerve that does not initially show symptoms. The brain receives images and information from the optic nerve. – Causes and Risk factors
An atypical increase in eye pressure is what causes glaucoma. This pressure is called intraocular pressure, which the eye needs in order to maintain its shape. While anyone can develop glaucoma, there are some groups that have an elevated risk factor:
Anyone over the age of 60.
Family history of glaucoma.
African Americans, especially over the age of 40.

– Symptoms
Glaucoma presents few to no symptoms at the beginning, but as it progresses, a person may develop peripheral vision issues. That signifies that there has already been some optic nerve damage.
